Kitchen cabinet spraying and renovation, moulding and interior painting in Calgary.
One team for the whole job: one contract, one schedule, no chasing separate trades. Calgary homeowners hire us because the price we send is the price they pay, and because the work is finished rather than nearly finished.
What we do
Four things, done properly, rather than everything done adequately.
Kitchen cabinet spraying
A factory-smooth sprayed finish in two to three days, for a fraction of what new cabinets cost. $125 per door or drawer front, all-inclusive, two-year warranty.
See cabinet sprayingWainscoting & moulding
Wainscoting, picture frame moulding, chair rail, crown moulding and wallpaper. Every run set off a laser line, not off your floor.

Walls, ceilings, trim and doors. Always two coats, paint and prep inside the price, and no extras appearing halfway through.

Demolition, electrical, plumbing, stone countertops, backsplash, cabinets and crown moulding under one contract and one schedule.
See kitchen renovationsHiring a contractor shouldn't feel like a gamble
You've heard the stories, or lived one. The quote that grew halfway through. The crew that vanished for a week. The finish that failed inside a year, right where hands touch it.
So the kitchen stays dated and the walls stay flat, and every so often you do the same mental math about whether it's worth the risk this time.
You shouldn't have to gamble to get honest work done in your own home.
How we work
You send photos
Wide shots of the space. Two minutes, no visit, nobody standing in your living room with a folder.
We send a price
Usually the same day, in writing, with what's included spelled out. Kitchens get a realistic range first.
We come and confirm
Only once the number works for you. We see the space, agree the scope and colours, and book the dates.
We do the work
To the dates we gave you, finished and cleaned up. Not a list of touch-ups for you to chase.
Who you're dealing with
A husband-and-wife business, not a call centre
Lux is run by the two of us, here in Calgary. The photos you send come to us, the price comes from us, and so does the call when something needs deciding on site.
We keep the business small enough that nothing gets passed along and forgotten. Every trade on your job answers to us, and the work carries our two-year warranty.
Send us your photos See our recent work on InstagramNo extras appear halfway through
The quotes that come in cheapest usually leave something out — often the paint, sometimes the second coat, almost always the prep. It surfaces later, when the work has started and saying no is awkward.
The only thing that changes our price after it's issued is a change you ask for.

Your kitchen doesn't need replacing. It needs refinishing.
We spray kitchen cabinets in Calgary to a hard, factory-smooth finish — no brush marks, no roller texture, no tearing your kitchen apart. Most kitchens are done in two to three days for a fraction of what new cabinets cost.
Hiring a contractor shouldn't feel like a gamble
You've heard the stories, or lived one. The quote that grew halfway through. The crew that vanished for a week. Paint that chipped off the cabinet doors within a year, right where hands touch them.
So you put it off. The kitchen stays dated, and every time you walk into it you do the same mental math about whether it's worth the risk this time.
You shouldn't have to gamble to get honest work done in your own home.
What we do differently
We're a small Calgary company that does one thing properly. You talk to the people who will be in your kitchen, not a call centre that passes you to whoever is free.
Our price is the price. Every quote includes materials, prep, labour and cleanup, so nothing gets added partway through. We tell you what we found before we touch anything, and if a job isn't right for spraying, we say so.
And we stand behind the finish for two full years.
What will your kitchen cost?
We price by the piece, not by guesswork. Count the doors and drawer fronts in your kitchen and you'll have a number in about thirty seconds.
This is an estimate, not a quote. Condition, material and finish change the number — thermofoil, high-gloss laminate and damaged doors all need different prep. Send us photos and we'll confirm the real price the same day.
Confirm my priceWhat the $125 covers
Every piece goes through the same five stages. Nothing here is an upsell — it's what a finish needs to survive a working kitchen.
- DegreasingKitchen doors carry years of cooking oil. Paint will not bond through it, so every surface is cleaned before anything else happens.
- SandingThe existing finish is scuffed back so the primer has something to grip.
- Minor repairsDings, chips and worn edges are filled as part of prep, not billed separately.
- Bonding primerChosen for your cabinet material — wood, MDF, thermofoil and high-gloss laminate each need a different one.
- Two coats of sprayed finishA waterborne urethane-alkyd enamel from Benjamin Moore, made for cabinets and trim. It flows out smooth like an oil paint but cures to a harder, non-yellowing surface — the finish that holds up where hands touch it every day.
Paint is included in the price, and you choose the colour. One colour or two — uppers light, lowers dark is a common request — costs the same.
Countertops, floors, appliances and backsplash are fully masked and protected before any spraying starts. Exposed cabinet sides and end panels are done as part of the job, not charged as extra pieces.
How it works
Four steps, and the first one takes you two minutes.
You send photos
Wide shots of the whole kitchen plus a close-up of one door. That's enough for us to see the material, the finish and the condition.
We send a price
Usually the same day, in writing, all-inclusive. If the photos raise a question, we ask it before quoting rather than after.
We come and confirm
Only once the number works for you. We see the kitchen in person, confirm the scope and colour, and book the dates.
We spray, then clean up
Two to three days on site for most kitchens. You get your kitchen back finished, not a job site to tidy up yourself.
Most contractors in Calgary warranty their cabinet work for one
We double it, and the reason is simple: a sprayed finish that's been properly degreased, sanded and primed doesn't fail in year two. If ours does, we come back and fix it.
A warranty is the cheapest thing a contractor can promise and the most expensive thing to honour. Ask anyone quoting your kitchen how long theirs lasts.

Questions we get asked
Will the paint chip or peel?
Not if the prep is done properly, and prep is most of what you're paying for. Failures almost always come from skipping the degreasing or using the wrong primer for the material. That's why the process above isn't optional on our jobs — and why we're comfortable warrantying it for two years.
Do I need to empty my cabinets?
Not entirely. Doors and drawer fronts come off and are sprayed away from the living space. Cabinet boxes are sprayed in place, so we ask you to clear the lower shelves and anything directly behind the frames. We'll tell you exactly what to move before we arrive.
Can you paint high-gloss laminate or thermofoil?
Yes. These need a different bonding primer than wood or MDF, and they're the surfaces where a cheap job fails fastest. Send a close-up photo of one door and we'll tell you what your cabinets are made of.
How long can we not use the kitchen?
Two to three days on site for most kitchens. Doors go back on at the end, and the finish continues to harden for a couple of weeks afterwards — we'll explain how to treat it during that period.
Is the price really all-inclusive?
Yes. Materials, primer, paint, prep, labour, masking and cleanup are all in the number you're given. The only thing that changes a quote after it's issued is a change you ask for.
Can you help me pick a colour?
We have a designer on the team, and colour consultation is available as a paid add-on. Plenty of clients don't need it and pick their own — either way, one colour or two costs the same to spray.

A flat wall is why the room still feels unfinished.
Wainscoting, picture frame moulding, chair rail and crown moulding — designed for your room, built on site, and painted to finish. It's the cheapest change that makes a house look like someone thought about it.
Panelling is easy to get wrong and hard to undo
You've seen it in other people's homes. Frames that don't line up with the window. A chair rail that cuts the room at an awkward height. Panels of three different widths on the same wall because nobody measured before they started cutting.
It isn't a finish you can quietly repaint. Once it's on the wall, it's on the wall, and you look at it every day.
That's why most people want it and never do it.
Want it drawn before it's built?
Our designer can map the whole wall first — panel sizes, spacing, where the layout has to shift around a window, a door, an outlet or a corner — and work out every dimension on paper before anything is ordered.
You see the layout before a single board is bought. If the proportions look wrong, we change them on the drawing, not on your wall.
This is a paid add-on, quoted per project, because a single accent wall and a full dining room are not the same problem. Plenty of clients skip it, bring a photo of what they want, and we build to that.
Tell us what you're picturing
Tap through the options and we'll turn it into a proper description you can send us. Takes about twenty seconds and saves a round of questions.
What kind of detail?
How much of the wall?
How much of the room?
When would you like it done?
Pricing is per project, not per foot. Corners, windows and doors change the work, and materials are quoted separately once you've chosen the profile and finish. Send us this plus a photo and you'll have a real number, usually the same day.
What we install
- WainscotingPanelled lower wall, finished with a cap. The classic treatment for dining rooms, hallways and stairwells.
- Picture frame mouldingApplied frames on a flat wall. Cheapest way to add depth to a big empty surface, and the layout is everything.
- Chair railOn its own or as the cap on panelling, at the height that suits the room rather than a standard number.
- Crown mouldingWhere the wall meets the ceiling. Makes a standard-height room read as taller.
- Ceiling detailCoffers, beams and applied trim overhead, where most people never think to look.
- WallpaperOften paired with panelling — paper above, moulding below. We hang it as part of the same job.
Every install includes filling, caulking, sanding and paint. Trim that's been nailed up but not properly filled and caulked is the giveaway of a rushed job, and it's the part that takes the longest.
How it works
Four steps, and the first one takes you two minutes.
You send photos
Wide shots of the room, plus anything on the walls we'd have to work around — windows, doors, outlets, radiators, an awkward corner.
We send a price
Usually the same day, in writing, all-inclusive. If the room is complicated, we'll say so and explain what makes it complicated.
We measure and lay it out
Only once the number works for you. This is where the designer maps the wall and you approve the layout before anything is ordered.
We build, fill and paint
Installed, caulked, sanded and finished. You get a room back, not a pile of trim and a list of touch-ups.
So we don't measure from it
Almost no floor in a Calgary home is truly flat, and almost no wall is truly square. A run of panelling measured up from the floor quietly follows that slope. By the far side of the room it's out by half an inch, and the whole wall reads as crooked.
Every rail, panel and frame we install is set off a laser line instead. Reveals stay equal, spacing stays consistent, and a chair rail leaving one wall meets the next one at exactly the same height.
Most people can't say why a room feels slightly wrong. This is usually why. It costs nothing extra to do properly — it just takes someone who sets the laser up before starting.

Questions we get asked
Why is one wall almost as expensive as a whole room?
Because the day is the same. Travel, setup, tools, dust protection and cleanup don't shrink when the wall does. Per square foot a small job is always dearer — if you're considering a second room, doing both at once is significantly better value.
Do I need the designer?
No. Bring a photo of a room you like and we'll build to it. The paid design work earns its money on rooms that fight back — a window off-centre, an opening in the wrong place, walls that aren't the length they look. Cost depends on the project, so we quote it separately.
What is it made of?
Primed MDF for painted work, which is stable, takes paint beautifully and won't show grain. Solid wood where the design calls for a stain finish. We'll tell you which one your project needs and why.
Will the seams and nail holes show?
Not when they're filled, sanded and caulked properly before paint. That stage is most of the labour and it's where corners get cut. We back the work for two years — most contractors in Calgary give one.
Can you match trim that's already in the house?
Usually. Send a close-up photo of your existing baseboard and casing and we'll tell you whether we can match the profile or whether a deliberate contrast would look better.
How long does a room take?
Most single rooms are two to four days including paint, depending on how many corners and openings there are. We'll give you the dates with the quote.
Send us photos

Fresh paint is easy. Not disrupting your home is the hard part.
Walls, ceilings, trim and doors, painted properly in a house you're still living in. Two coats, sharp lines, and everything put back where it belongs before we leave each day.
Anyone can roll paint on a wall
Which is exactly the problem. The trade is full of people who will quote you a low number, cover your furniture with one bedsheet, put a thin coat over the old colour and be gone by Thursday.
Then you start noticing things. The line where the wall meets the ceiling wanders. The old colour ghosts through in the afternoon light. There's a dried drip on the baseboard and a roller mark on the door frame.
None of it is worth a fight, so you live with it. Every day, in your own house.
What actually separates a good paint job from a cheap one
It isn't the paint. It's the hours nobody sees — filling, sanding, caulking, priming patches so they don't flash through, and cutting every line by hand instead of trusting tape to do the thinking.
We use professional-grade paint from Benjamin Moore, chosen for the room. Kitchens and bathrooms get a finish that survives being wiped down. Ceilings get a flat that hides rather than highlights. A hallway takes a different product than a bedroom.
And it's always two coats. There's no colour and no product on the market where one is enough over an existing finish, whatever anyone tells you when they're trying to win the job on price.
What will it cost?
Enter roughly what needs painting and you'll have a number in under a minute. Drag the slider or type the figure straight in.
Add up the length of the walls and multiply by ceiling height. A 12 by 14 ft room with 9 ft ceilings is about 470 sq ft.
Roughly the perimeter of the rooms. That same room is about 52 ft.
Painted both sides.
This is an estimate, not a quote. Walls needing real repair, high or vaulted ceilings, and a dark colour going over a light one all add work. Send photos and we'll confirm the number, usually the same day.

Tap through the options and we'll turn it into a description you can send us with your photos. Saves a round of questions and gets you a firmer number.
Which rooms?
What needs doing?
What condition are the walls in?
Will anyone be living there?
When would you like it done?
Interior work is priced per project — room sizes, ceiling height, how much prep the walls need and how many doors and windows break up the run all change the number. Send us this plus a few photos and you'll have a real price, usually the same day.
What's in the price
- ProtectionFloors, furniture, fixtures and anything staying in the room covered properly before a lid comes off.
- Filling and sandingNail holes, dents and old anchors filled and sanded flat. This is where cheap jobs save their time.
- Spot primingRepairs and bare patches primed so they don't show through the finish in raking light.
- CaulkingGaps at the trim and corners sealed, so the lines read straight instead of ragged.
- Two full coatsBenjamin Moore, in the sheen that suits the room. One colour or five — the price is driven by area, not by how many colours you choose.
- CleanupEvery day, not just at the end. Furniture goes back, floors get vacuumed, and you get your rooms back each evening.
How it works
Four steps, and the first one takes you two minutes.
You send photos
Wide shots of each room, plus close-ups of anything damaged. That's usually enough for us to price it without coming out.
We send a price
Usually the same day, in writing, all-inclusive. If a room needs repair work before paint, we tell you now rather than halfway through.
We confirm and book
Only once the number works for you. We see the place, confirm colours and sheens, and give you the dates.
We paint and put it back
Prep, two coats, and a clean house at the end of every day — not a site you tiptoe around until we're finished.
No extras appear halfway through
Paint, primer, filler, caulking, protection, labour and cleanup are all inside the number we send you. There is no separate materials bill at the end and no line item you didn't agree to.
The quotes that come in cheapest usually leave something out — often the paint, sometimes the second coat, almost always the prep. It surfaces later, when the work has started and saying no is awkward.
The only thing that changes our price after it's issued is a change you ask for.

Questions we get asked
Do I have to move out?
No. Most of our interior work happens in houses people are living in. We work room by room, keep the rest of the house usable, and put each room back at the end of the day. If you'd rather we did it while you're away, that works too and it's usually faster.
Why is your quote higher than the one I got last week?
Usually because of what's in it. Ask the cheaper quote three questions: is it two coats, is filling and sanding included, and is the paint in the price. The gap almost always disappears once those are answered — and if it doesn't, one of us is doing something the other isn't.
Do I buy the paint?
No, it's included. You choose the colours and we bring the right product and sheen for each room. If you've already bought paint you love, we'll use it and adjust the price.
Can you help with colours?
We have a designer on the team and colour consultation is available as a paid add-on. Plenty of clients pick their own and just want a second opinion on sheen — that part we'll give you for free.
How long does a house take?
A single room is usually a day or two. A full interior is typically a week or more, depending on size and how much prep the walls need. You'll have the dates before we start, not a vague "we'll see how it goes".
What if I find something wrong afterwards?
Tell us and we'll come back. Touch-ups in the first weeks are normal — a scuff from moving furniture back, a spot that dried lighter than the rest — and we don't charge for them. We'd rather fix it than have you look at it.

A new kitchen without becoming the project manager.
Demolition, electrical, plumbing, stone, backsplash, cabinets and crown moulding — all of it under one contract and one schedule. You make the decisions. We handle everyone who shows up at your door.
Most kitchen renovations go wrong in the gaps between trades
The electrician can't come until the cabinets are out. The stone can't be templated until the cabinets are in. The tile guy turns up on a day when nothing is ready and leaves again. Nobody is wrong, exactly, and nobody is in charge.
So you end up in charge. Chasing people who don't answer, rescheduling around each other, standing in a half-finished kitchen explaining to one trade what the last one did.
Two weeks of work stretches into two months, and you eat off a folding table the whole time.
One contract, one schedule, one person to call
Every trade on your kitchen is ours. The electrician and the plumber are people we've worked with for years, not whoever was free that week, and they arrive when the job is actually ready for them.
You get dates before we start, and they're sequenced so nothing waits on nothing. If something shifts, we tell you and we re-sequence — you don't find out because someone didn't turn up.
And you deal with us the entire time. Not five different numbers in your phone.
What's in a full kitchen
- Demolition and disposalThe old kitchen out and gone, with the rest of the house protected from the dust it makes.
- ElectricalLighting, outlets and connections by our own licensed sub. Most kitchens are fixtures and circuits rather than structural work.
- PlumbingSink, faucet and appliance connections, again by a plumber we work with on every job.
- Stone countertopsSupplied and installed through Granite Knights. Someone comes out and templates your kitchen, and the slab is cut to your exact layout — not to a standard size.
- BacksplashTile, or the same stone as your counters carried up the wall. We do a lot of the second one and it changes the whole room.
- CabinetsRefinished, modified, or new boxes — whichever your kitchen and budget call for. Refinishing existing boxes is usually a fraction of replacing them.
- Crown mouldingAbove the uppers, closing the gap to the ceiling. The detail that makes a kitchen look built rather than installed.
- Paint and finishingWalls, ceiling and trim finished at the end, so the room is done rather than nearly done.
Tell us what you're thinking
Tap through the options and we'll turn it into a description you can send with your photos. Kitchens are priced per project, so this is where a real conversation starts.
What are you looking at?
How big is the kitchen?
Do you know what you want it to look like?
When would you like to start?
Every kitchen is priced individually — the stone you choose alone can swing the number significantly, and the catalogue is enormous. Send this along with photos and we'll come back with a realistic range before anyone comes out.
How it works
You send photos
Wide shots of the kitchen and a note about what you're thinking. Two minutes, no visit, no salesperson in your house.
We send a ballpark
A realistic range so you know whether this is a conversation worth having. Kitchens vary too much for an exact number from photos, and we'd rather give you an honest range than a low one.
We come out and build the concept
Only once the range works for you. We measure properly, and if you don't know what you want yet, our designer works it through with you — layout, materials, stone, colours.
You get a firm price and dates
In writing. You'll know which week the demolition happens, when the stone gets templated and when you get your kitchen back.
We build it
Two to four weeks for a typical kitchen. One crew, one schedule, one person answering your messages.
You always know what you've paid for
Ten percent books your dates. Forty percent before we start, which covers materials and gets your stone ordered. The remaining fifty when the kitchen is finished and you've walked through it with us.
Half the money sits with you until the job is done. That's deliberate — it's the arrangement we'd want if it were our kitchen.

Questions we get asked
How long will I be without a kitchen?
Two to four weeks for a typical project, depending on size and what you've chosen. The single biggest factor is stone — it can't be templated until the cabinets are set, and then it has to be cut. We'll tell you the realistic dates before you commit, not the optimistic ones.
Can you price it from photos?
We can give you a realistic range from photos, which is usually enough to know whether it's worth going further. A firm number needs a visit — what's behind the cabinets, the state of the walls and floor, and the stone you choose all move the figure. We won't quote you low to get in the door.
Do I need a permit?
Usually not. Most of our kitchens are finishes, fixtures and cabinetry rather than structural changes or major electrical reconfiguration, and in practice permits haven't come up. If your project does need one, permits in Alberta are pulled by the homeowner — we'll tell you clearly if we think yours is heading that way.
Do I have to replace the cabinets?
Often not. If the boxes are solid, refinishing them costs a fraction of replacing them and the result is a kitchen that looks new. We'll tell you honestly which side of that line yours falls on — including when replacement is the better spend.
How does the countertop work?
Stone is supplied and installed through Granite Knights. Once your cabinets are in, someone comes out and templates the kitchen so the slab is cut to your exact layout, including the sink and cooktop openings. The catalogue is large — we'll narrow it down with you rather than handing you a book.
Can the backsplash match the counters?
Yes, and it's one of the best-value decisions in a kitchen. Running the same stone up the wall behind the cooktop or across the whole backsplash changes the room more than most people expect. We do it often.
What if I don't know what I want?
That's normal and it's what the designer is for. Most people can tell you what they don't like far more easily than what they do. We start there, put a concept together, and you see it before anything is ordered.
Who are the electrician and plumber?
Subcontractors we've used on every job for years, not whoever was available. They're our responsibility, our schedule and our problem if something goes wrong — you don't hire them and you don't chase them.
Send us photos
